Michele will be along shortly with some cats, I believe. :)

Sorry all!  I've been absent for a while....but don't worry, I haven't abandoned my goal!  Art Expo took a lot of my energy and I've started on a couple new ATTR paintings and took on a couple commissions.  Once I'm finished with those, I'll be back to my WHS paintings!!!  Hope to have something to post for you early in the new year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND BEST WISHES FOR A HAPPY 2011 TO YOU AND YOURS!!

ART TO THE RESCUE 2! A Fundraiser Exhibition in Quebec!!

Funny story....while googling 'Artist to the Rescue' in order to start this very blog and give my project a name, I came across an art gallery in Quebec, Galerie Ouest, that had a call for entry out on an upcoming fundraiser exhibition.  The closing was only days after my original discovery, so I contacted the gallery and inquired if I could submit an entry for to the jury.  I was told they'd be happy to have me apply, so I did.  And to my delight, they accepted both of my entries!!!

The fundraising is completely unrelated to my ATTR project, but still worth telling you about because 50% of any sales generated from the show will be split between Ani-match and Rosie Animal Adoption centres.  How great is that!??!!!  SUPER GREAT, I say!

The two paintings that will be heading to Quebec are my 'Bouledogue Francais' and my 'Pondering Pug'. Both are framed in walnut floater frames and priced at a very resonable $180 CDN each plus shipping. Contact Helena at helena@galerieouest.ca for purchase information.

Bouledogue Français, 9"x12" framed

Pondering Pug, 9"x12" framed

Both of these pieces will be available for viewing at the Manitoba Art Expo, but will packaged and sent to Quebec immediately after.  Visit the Galerie Ouest website http://www.galerieouest.ca/

'Buddy' is inspired by another handsome young guy who found his new forever home

This painting is done with a vibrant warm colour scheme using a large variety of reds, oranges, pinks with a bit of dark purple for the shadows. Colour has been applied in layer upon layer giving beautiful depth to the piece.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing with your friends!

Painting #2 - 'Group of Lucky 7 Series - Vera'

© 2010 Lori Zébière

'Group of Lucky 7 Series - Vera'
12"x16"
Acrylic on Canvas
On Display at Art Expo November 4th -7th
E-mail for purchase details.
50% will be donated from this sale to WHS.

This is sweet little Vera (aka Viv), the first in my series titled 'Group of Lucky 7' inspired by the 7 dogs that the Winnipeg Humane Society raised funds to send to Best Friends Animal Santuary in Utah. This horrific case consisted of 64 terrified dogs being seized from a private residence in Gull Lake, Manitoba many were injured, suffering open wounds, covered in garbage, dirt and feces. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the WHS staff she will now live a life filled with space, food and lots of love!!

I invite you to come down to the Manitoba Art Expo November 4th - 7th to see this painting featured in the Showcase Gallery.  I think it looks much better in real life, where you can see the layer upon layer of oranges, greens, blues and pinks make up her coat, the colours just don't show up on a computer screen the same way.

50% ($75) will be donated

Here is the first painting available to kick off this project.  'Shorty' has been inspired by an image courtesy of 'J' on Wetcanvas!  Wetcanvas!  is an on-line art community.   I do not know Shorty's story, whether he's a rescue or comes from a caring reputable breeder, but I have been wanting to paint him for quite long time and figured he'd be great to start things off!
